Prayers Answered

Having a new baby and all that was happening the week leading up to Halloween I got a little (an understatement) behind in the laundry. I am usually pretty good about doing it once a week and I always fold and put away the clothes after each load. That way it doesn't seem so overwhelming to me. Well, when I realized that the laundry hamper was over flowing and dirty clothes were taking over my bedroom floor I decided I better just get it all washed. So that is what I did. I washed and then dryed and then piled the clean clothes on my bedroom floor. So by Saturday after Halloween this is what it looked like. Notice the bookshelf,... the pile is almost that high. SAD!

Scott was woken up that morning to Scotty's tap tap tap on his shoulder. Then he preceded to tell him, "Daddy I have been praying that Heavenly Father will help me find some underwear!" Scott guided him to the mountain of clean clothes. After a few minutes of digging his prayers were answered. Aren' kids the greatest. I laugh almost everyday with some funny thing they do or say. Now I just need to work on remembering those sweet times when I have had it with them.

Halloween Continued

Well, Halloween always seems like it is a week long. I like it but it totally wears me out. I think I got my kids all dressed up in there costumes four or five times. They always have a great time though so I guess it is worth it. But I am always glad when it is over.

Here are some pictures of our ward Halloween Party. There was a chili cook off and carnival games for the kids. We had a great time.

Look at these two hot chicks next to me. I love these girls. Laura and Jill are two of my favorite people and they looked so great that night!
Marianne spent the evening in Kristen's arms. They even dressed alike. Thanks for loving our kids, Kristen!

Scotty was so excited because he won the prize for the scariest costume. The sword in his hands was the prize he got. Doesn't he look SCARY!

EATING WORMS!

I made hot dog worms for lunch on Halloween. I saw this in a magazine and they turned out great. They looked so much like worms that Haley took one bite and got grossed out. She would not eat them and had to leave the table. Maddy and Scotty loved them. As soon as Scotty's plate was empty he asked me, "Mom are they really worms?" After a little teasing I told him what they really were. He seemed a little relieved!

TRICK OR TREATING
We went trick or treating in Lamplight Village. That neighborhood goes all out with decorations and people were sitting out side their houses ready for the masses to hand out candy. And there were kids everywhere. It is like a big neighborhood party! Madeline got the royal treatment riding in her chariot. Scott pushed her up to each door and she would get out and open her bag. She had the right idea. The rest of us had sore feet by the end of the evening.

Aunt Angela came to visit us and go trick or treating with the kids. We love it when she comes to visit. I think she is the most pleasant house guest ever. We get to eat Aurelio's pizza while she is here, and she always picks up Popeye's chicken for her and the kids while we go out on a date. You are the BEST Angela and we LOVE you!

Class Halloween parties

I was able to go and help out in Haley's class for their Halloween party. They got tons of treats and paraded around the play ground to show off their costumes. They do things so much different here. We used to parade around the gym and throughout the school going from class room to class room. I am not sure if I like the play ground idea, half the time they are walking there is nobody to see them. The other half parents get to see them, but they don't get to see their class mates costumes unless they are in the same class, not to mention it is still pretty warm out. But whatever, all the kids look so cute and seemed to have a great time. My favorite costumes in her class was this little girl as a washing machine and the little boy as a hamburger. You can see them in the class picture below.
Here is Scotty and Mrs. Grants, Mrs. Grants. We call her this because on Scotty's first day of school he told us he got in trouble and when we asked him why, he said because I had my hand up and she wouldn't call on me so I kept saying Mrs. Grants Mrs. Grants. It doesn't sound so funny as I write it down. But it was so funny when he was telling us about it. He loves his teacher.

He was also very excited to bring the share bucket home. That is what he is holding.
Maddy had a great time being a big kid at his table. She got to eat with Scotty and even got her own treat bag.
This is Haley and Scotty as they were leaving for school in the morning. Haley should have been the vampire because if you look close she has fangs.

Halloween Howl

Every year the kids school puts on a Halloween Howl (also known as a carnival). They have a haunted house in the auditorium and all kinds of carnival games, food, raffle drawings and fun. The kids get to dress up and always have a great time. We all had a great time. Scott was feeling extra festive this year and decided to dress up with the kids. We originally had planned to all dress up as Wizard of Oz characters, but I decided that was a little to ambitious for me having a new baby. Maybe next year!
Maddy and I did not want to dress up for this, but don't worry we did dress up for the Ward Halloween Party. Don't my boys look scary? Scotty knew months ahead that he wanted to be a vampire. It freaked me out to see him with black hair and covered in make-up. I no longer recognized my sweet little boy! Haley on the other hand had a full page listing all the costume possibilities. It is always agonizing work for her to decide what she wants to be. Luckily we found the orange lei in our costume box which sparked the idea of a Hula girl and she stuck with it happily.

I think Marianne was scared of her father in this picture! I kind of was.


Marianne slept the whole time in the Bjorn. I am sure she was dreaming of princesses, ghosts, and jack-o-lanterns! Isn't she sweet!

Here are my girls checking out the fire truck! This year at the Howl there were all kinds of law enforcement. There was a fire truck, police k9 unit with their dogs, a unit on horses and several more.
Maddy and Haley enjoying all the goods they won playing games. They did not give away any candy at the Howl, just toys, games, pencils and such. I thought that was a great idea since they will be getting tons of candy on Halloween night and at most other parties.
Haley's favorite thing was this harmonica. She got pretty good at playing it. She has always loved music!
I thought Scott looked more like a clown from a horror movie than a rodeo clown! Isn't he scary. He had so much fun dressing up with his kids. He is such a good daddy and his kids adore him!

Beehive Class Halloween Party

Aren't these girls the cutest things ever. I am lucky enough to work with them in Young Women's and these girls love to have fun. So my amazing advisers helped me throw a Halloween party for these cuties. We ate, played games and learned the Thriller dance. No, don't worry I did not teach the dance. As many of you know my dancing skills are well pretty much non existent. Luckily Melanie and Lindsey were drill team girls in a former life and love to dance, so they taught the girls. It was fun to watch.

We had some yummy treats which included yummy apples and caramel, these graveyard rice krispies that I made and the favorite ghoulish punch that Melanie made. The girls loved finding the rats in their cups.
