Owwee! What is it?

It is herpes simplex 6! It is only found in children and is only as contageous as a little cold, but it is very painful.

Poor Madeline went to bed on Friday night complaining that her mouth her. I looked in there and everything looked normal. Then, Saturday morning she was drinking lemonade and started crying telling me her mouth burned. I took another look in her mouth and found this...

She has what looks like cankers lining her tongue, inside her lips and cheeks. She is on anti viral medication and seems to be getting better.

No Power

Ok, our power when out for about an hour this afternoon. This made me ponder about if our family is really ready for an emergency. It was over 100 degrees outside, with no power all day that means no AC, no fans, no computer (to check what was going on), no land line phone (what did we ever do without cell phones?), fridge and freezer was turned off. If this was for a few days our food would go bad, unless we found a way to can it. How would we stay cooled off? After an hour poor Marianne was sweating. Since I had not gotten in the shower yet, we headed to the bathroom to cool off.

We talked about prepardeness in church on Sunday, and what a coincidence that we had an opportunity to really feel if we were prepared. I feel fairly confident that we would be ok, minus the heat issue. It would be great if we had a back up generator to use when the power goes out. Maybe we will add that to our list of things we still need. It will definitly be down the road after we have won the lottery or something! LOL

From GRUMP to PURE JOY!

Marianne was truly an awnry, mean and mad baby. I love her to death and always have but she has been grumpy and hard to please for the first 8 months of her life. She has been by far my hardest baby. She went for long periods where I was the only one she would go to. Then about 5 months she decided she liked her daddy and now at 11 months she will go to about anyone, especially when I am not in sight. Well, I am glad to announce that she in no longer a grump! She is finally happy and content most of the time. She loves to smile and laugh. I have yet to get her cheese smile on film. She will scrunch up her eyes and nose and smile with her four teeth touching. It is the funniest thing I have ever seen, but she will not do it when I have the camera out! She has the best fake laugh. When ever anyone in the room laughs she will give them her courtesy laugh. She is very tickelish and loves to play and tease.

Her latest accomplishments are that she can pull herself to a stand, walk around furniture, clap, and yes crawl. She is finally crawling at 10 months. She loves music. Whenever you put music on, especially "Connected" (Barbie Diamond Castle) or "You Belong to Me" (Taylor Swift) her head starts bobbing and her arms and legs start flailing, it is so fun to watch. She is such a fun girl! I just love her.

Madelines Big Day~

Madeline finally got to go to preschool this week. Ever since the other two started school she has asked me 5-6 times a day if her school is still closed and when will it open. I love the simple minds little kids have! Her school finally opened on Tuesday. On the way to school we went over a few things like make sure you talk to your teacher and do what she asks. Maddy is kind of shy when she is in a new environment and with people she does not know. When my lecturing was done, she added that she will tell her teacher when she needs to go potty and that she will wipe her own bum. I laughed at that because she had not had a problem going potty in almost a year, but as Grandma knows if she gets lazy, or decides she just does not want to do it, she insists on someone else wiping her bum. So I was glad to hear that she would not be yelling from the bathroom for Mrs. Kim to come and wipe her bum.

Yes, this picture looks vaguely familiar from an earlier post, but it is not. I thought she looked so cute on the others kids first day of school I dressed her the same and did her hair the same!! When she came home from school she told me that she had a good time, but that she was not angry with the kids anymore. I said, "why were you angry with the kids?" Maddy said, " They were screaming at me." Her teacher did not say anything about them not getting along, so after several more questions, I think she meant to say they were staring at her. I love that she hears big words and uses them having no idea what they really mean. I am sure they mean something to her. She has also been my child that makes up her own words!

This morning Madeline woke me up at 6am complaining that she was hungry. She ate her dinner real well the night before, but that was about the only time she ate all day. When I put her to bed she said she was hungry, but I blew it off and told her she could eat in the morning. Well, after 3 bowls of cereal, I came back into the kitchen and found her like this, asleep on the kitchen chairs. Apparently she was HUNGRY and TIRED!

Later in the morning when I was doing her hair, she demanded that it be straight. Maddy has a little curl in her hair that I love. I was putting gel in it and scrunching it, but she would not have it. She said she did not like it curly and wanted it straight. So, I got out the blow dryer and she sat content as can be as I straightened it. Is she really getting old enough to know how she wants her hair done?? Boy am I in trouble!

How can you resist a face like that. I just love her beautiful eyes! No wonder she has her Daddy wrapped around her finger!

Florida Vacation!
