Crushed on me...

As I was reading through some blogs tonight, one in particular sparked a memory of a conversation I had with Scotty a few weeks ago.

Scotty: "Mom, I know what crush means."
Mom: "Oh, you do, what does it mean?"
Scotty: "It means you like someone." "Do you know who is crushed on me?"
Mom: "No, Scotty who is crushed on you?"
Scotty: "Elle is, she told me that today when we were up in her room!"

Oh Boy! I need to watch out for this kid now that he is crushed on! LOL

Take me out to the ballgame!

Some friends gave us tickets to the 51's baseball game. We had such a great night! We picked up some In-n-out on our way to the game, loaded my purse with treats and drinks and headed to the game. The kids got free hats and webkinz, what a deal!

They were so excited to get a air pet webkinz we could have just turned around and gone home and it would have been a great night!

It was so fun to hear Scott explain the game to Scotty and Haley. I think Haley was the most interested. Doesn't she look adorable in a hat!

Marianne and I were buddies. She loved walking and holding onto the bleachers. I just had to keep her from sucking on them.

She got very tired toward the end of the game, but was not about to fall asleep with all the commotion. She was a good girl though!

When we were leaving there was this place to take pictures as a baseball player. Here is my TEAM!

There was going to be fireworks at the end of the game, but we left when they were still tied after an extra inning. The kids were sad to miss the fireworks so we appeased them by letting them light the sparklers we had left over from 4th of July!

Florida Trip part 3

I am doing a little catch up on my blogging. There is so much that I blog in my head but never seems to make in on my blog. Well, tonight I am buckling down and making an attempt to catch up. I am doing to for record keeping and for posterity sake, right? Here is the last little bit of our trip to Florida. Can I just tell you again what a great time we had. Every couple needs to get away for a full week every couple of years. We definitely will not wait 7 years to do this again.

Watching the sun rise over the ocean. I was so set on getting up early one morning to watch the sun rise with Scott. How romantic huh? Not so much. I set the alarm for 4:30, doesn't the sun rise that early? NO!!! After getting up and going back to sleep for about ten minutes I finally got to see the sun rise at oh about 6:45, and by then I was so exhausted that it really wasn't that impressive to me so I didn't even wake Scott up. I took this picture and went back to bed. I did wake up an hour or so later when Scott had to get up and took the other picture then I think I slept until noon!

We went to the Orlando Temple. This was our second time going to this temple and can I say it has one of the most beautiful Celestial rooms. It is purple and green, they had dark purple couches..LOVE IT!!! It is always so nice to be in the house of the Lord, that is the only place on earth to feel such peace and love! I thought it looked so beautiful at night, all lit up! (note to self: Do Not stand in front of Scott, I look like twice as big as him!)

On the last day of our trip, Scott had to work half the day and I was to meet him in Orlando where we would head to the airport. Well, I had the car loaded and was ready to go but had a good hour to burn, so I took one last walk on the beach. I had wanted to see the these turtle tracks close up. The turtles were coming on the beach at night to lay their eggs. In the early morning a guy comes along on a four wheeler and picks up the eggs to take them to a safe place. Someone told me they lay close to a hundred eggs. Pretty neat huh...
They go up on shore, they round hole is where they nested and then went back to the water on the other side. Here is a closer look at the tracks and the nest.

There was this man fishing right in front of our hotel. He was very nice, he told me all about the turtles, sand fleas, and fishing. It was very interesting. He also told me that the day before he had caught 6 sharks...YES I said 6 sharks right out in front of our hotel. We had chosen to swim down the beach a ways where there were no rocks and Scott was teasing me about sharks in the water, who knew that just a few miles down there were sharks! AAAHH! I am glad that was my last day, I am positive that the memory of this will be much too faded to keep me out of the water next time, but that was scary!

He
This man actually caught a fish while I was talking to him and was kind enough to let me take a picture with it. No I am not holding it GROSS! He is holding it and his friend took the picture! It was a big fish, he said it was about a $40 meal!

Scotty's 6th Birthday!

I have to post Scotty's birthday. I know it was at the first of the month, but to my credit this summer has been crazy, especially the end of July through the first of August. I went to girls camp the last week in July, came home on Saturday, celebrated Scotty's birthday that night because Scott had to fly out to Florida the next day. I had two days to unpack from camp and get the house and kids ready for me to leave on Thursday to spend a fabulous week in Florida with Scott. I would say that Scotty got jipped on his birthday, only because we did not celebrate it on his birthday, but other than that he made out just fine...

Scott made all the preparations and carried out half of the party plans before I even got home. What a man I have! He is the BEST DAD EVER!!!

Scott made this double layer cake all by himself, isn't he good. I think Maddy helped him decorate it!

...THEN he took all four of my kids to Build-A-Bear at the mall, by himself I might add. This was their first experience at build-a-bear and I was so sad that I missed it, but I was driving home from girls camp. The kids thought they had died and gone to heaven! They loved it, and Marianne was a good girl, Scott said she just wanted to stand up and touch everything.

After I got home we went to dinner and came home and had a little party with the neighbor kids. Scotty is so easy to please, he was just grateful to have a few friends to share his special day with!

He got a new skateboard, some new army men, trick bugs, the full armor of God and this light sabor that lights up and makes noise.

Oh, I can't forget the $20 gift card from his aunts and uncles in Texas, I think that was his favorite gift. He was so excited to spend it. He finally got the chance and he bought this shiny red remote control corvette! He has gotten his money's worth out of it already. It is going non stop all around the house!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTTY!!! We Love You!

Schools Back In

OK... School has started and frankly I do not like it. Yes I only have two kids with me at home now and I should be enjoying that fact, however I am not a morning person. Does that explain everything. I will take chaos and kids all day long if I can sleep in and not have to have anyone dressed by noon. WHEW I got it off my chest and now you all know my weakness. The daily routine (especially the morning one) is a killer for me. I am trying hard though. We have made it on time for 3 days in a row, walked 2 of the days and I have not yet yelled at my kids. WOW!!! People can change, or at least get off to a good start.

Here are my little darlings on their first day of school. (I know there are a lot of pictures, but I thought they all turned out so cute I had to post all of them!)

Scotty was so excited to start school. I think what he was most excited for was that he got to take a lunch to school. Oh the simple things that make kids happy. He comes home tired, but likes school so far. I was so sad to see him go to school all day. I will miss reading books to him and having him snuggle up to me and take an afternoon nap! He is the worlds best snuggler, man his wife will thank me one day. But now he is a big first grader, has no time for naps and will spend more time at school being influenced by his peers than with his own mother. I hope I have taught him well! SCARY!

Haley was excited for school but a little nervous too. She is more apprehensive about things. She was concerned she wouldn't know anyone in her class and worried about if she would like her teacher. And of course after the first day all her worries were put aside. Her teacher was very nice, half of her 2nd grade class is now in her 3rd grade class and she had a great day!

and....Missy Moo, she was totally devastated when she found out that she was not going to school with her brother and sister. She had her backpack on, her lunch packed and she was ready for school. It was so funny how many people at the school asked me if she was starting kindergarten. She is ONLY 3!!! But she is just like I was as a kid, tall and looked about 2-3 years older than I was.

Marianne was a trooper! She was content in her stroller looking around at the mass of people and chaos.

Florida's Wildlife

First things first, Haley this is a picture from the balcony of our hotel and a picture of me out in front of our hotel. This is proof that our hotel is right on the beach!

I love hearing the sound of the ocean when I wake up in the morning all day and when I go to bed. Can you ever tire of that sound? hmm

Scott and I decided that we could really live here in Florida. The humidity is really not that bad, you never would have to put lotion on. In Vegas I cake the lotion on my kids and they still get dry hands and bottoms. Anyway.... we have seen some cool wildlife here. The birds are amazing! These little guys look like crabs from our balcony. They are constantly looking for a meal of sand fleas. You never knew that while you were playing in the beautiful sand, there were sand fleas ready to attack. LOL The fisherman use them to catch fish, and these cute birds use them to fill their tummies.

Here is a huge crab that we found. I don't think I would want to dig up one that size, but we sure saw some big holes in the sand that would have fit this guy!

Here is a dead piece of a catfish. I think this is what most people were catching from the beach. Who knew that people fished right on the beach. I knew they fished from a pier and out of a boat, but I have never seen so many people fishing on the beach. It was fun to see if they had caught anything on out nightly walks on the beach.

On Sunday we went to church here in Melbourne. It was a fabulous meeting, the talks were great and the spirit was strong. It is so great to know that where ever you go you can almost always find a church to attend and they will be teaching you the same gospel. Well, I thought it was funny that people just pulled right up on the lawn to park. In Melbourne there is no parking on the side of the road, so I guess when the church parking lot gets full, the lawn is alternate parking.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of the local grocery store, Winn Dixie. Haley loves the movie called "Winn Dixie". It is a good flick, and who knew there was really a store named that after all!!!

Girls Camp

I had the wonderful opportunity to go with our Young Women to Girls camp again this year. There is not a better place to feel the spirit, build your testimony and grow closer to your Heavenly Father. I will be forever grateful to our wonderful Stake President for the words he spoke to us Friday night. He helped me reflect on my life, learn things about myself and set goals to better myself. He also challenged all of us at camp to read the Book of Mormon by Thanksgiving and keep a journal of our reading. I have taken on this challenge and am excited to complete it. I know that my testimony will grow and I will be a better person for doing it. I love serving in Young Womens, and I think we have the best young women in the church!!
Here are some pictures of our adventures!

Here is a BIG THANK YOU to all my friends who willingly watched my kids so that I could go!!!

We Miss You!!!

This post is for our beautiful children who are homesick for us! I love hearing the words "we miss you" and "we love you", instead of the all too often "I hate you", "you are the meanest mom in the world." What good a little vacation getaway can do for us and the kids who are left behind. Here Scott and I find each other together in Florida after 12 years of marriage. It has truly been like a second honeymoon for us, and how ironic that it is the very place we went on our first honeymoon, only this time we are old enough to rent a car!!! We have had a wonderful time so far and still have 5 more days of bliss ahead of us. Here is a little snapshot of what we have been up too.
This is thinking of you Haley, Scotty, Maddy, and Marianne!!!! We love you and miss you very much!! OH....and thank you Marian and Angela for making this possible, we love you too!

RJ GATORS!!!! Need I say more! This is the best restuarant here in Melbourne. Scott has been there twice, me once but we will definitley go back one or two more times before we leave!!!

Here I am lying on the beach reading a book. This has been a much needed break of rest and relaxation for me. Ok in this picture I am talking with Haley trying to take a picture of myself and the ocean to prove to her that our hotel is really right on the beach. I will take a better picture tomorrow Haley, I promise!

We dug for crabs! It can't be a complete day at the beach until you dig up some crabs. This little guy was looking for shade behind the skim board (look close and you will see him, click on the picture and it will be bigger). He first found shade under my towel and about scared me to death! Crabs get hot too!

I think I found the hottest skim boarder in Florida!! Who knew Scott was a Surfer dude!!!
Here is a video of his amazing skills!! After several wipe outs and injuries he started to get the hang of it. It was so fun watching him. I think he is paying for it tonight though. He doesn't have that young 20 year old body anymore!! What a great weekend!

Florida Vacation!
