Scotty is SMITTEN

We had a Young Womens activity with my miamaid class where the girls brought a little friend and we made pizzas and cement handprints and played. Well, Scotty was a little friend to Kaila, a girl that has babysat the kids quite a bit. During the evening he asked her if he could tell her a secret. Of course she said yes, and leaned down. Scotty then whispered to Kaila, "when I grow up I am going to marry you!"

Is that not so cute. I wish I had brought my camera, but I forgot it. So sorry there are no pictures on Scotty's future bride. I will be posting more later on our miamaid repelling trip and she will be in those pictures, so you can look for her!

Track Break Vacation to Florida!

Our vacation began with a long airplane trip to Florida. We had one layover in Houston. The kids did so well on the flight. The only problem was that I gave them a sippy cup of Chocolate milk at 4am when we were driving to the airport and didn't think to have Scotty go to the bathroom again before we boarded the plane. He passed out before the plane even took off. Well, he sleeps real deep and next thing I know I check on him and he had a little accident. ok it was a big one. So, Scott took him into the bathroom and had him stand on the toilet while he washed out his clothes best he could so he wouldn't smell all day. The crazy thing is he really didn't mind having wet clothes all day! So... you just never know what has been on your airplane seat! Don't worry we did tell the stewardess so they could clean it up!

The kids colored most of the layover! They were really good. I think they were just so excited to get to Florida and see their friends!

I think Scott was the most anxious to get there. Doesn't he look so enthused?

DISNEYWORLD WITH THE MORTENSENS!
We had a wonderful vacation with our great friends the Mortensens. We are so grateful that they would let us invade their home and they would hang out with us for a week. They are one of the best families we know and we love them a ton. In fact the kids call them Uncle Dale and Aunt Tammy. They really think the kids are their cousins too. We feel fortunate to have friends like them. We haven't seen them in almost two years, but when we get together it is like we were with them yesterday. I think we look like we could be related, all the blond heads. "One of us is not like the other, one of us is not the same." Can you guess who that would be? Yep ME!

We went to Disney three days. We spent a day at Wild Animal Kingdom, a day at Magic Kingdom, and a day at Epcot. Magic Kingdom was the most crowded, but that was where Maddy was able to ride the most rides. I think the carousel was her favorite ride, because she was on a horsey.

Scotty was in heaven with the two boys. The poor kids is always with girls at home. He was glued to Kendall all three days at the park. Both Kendall and Taylor were so kind to Scotty. They played with him and allowed him to be their buddy all week.

Our family adored little Max. I think he made us more excited to have our own little baby. I love this picture because Scotty is so proud to be taking care of Max. Isn't he so handsome?
Our family in front of the Epcot Center!

Haley and Amy had a great time together. They were inseperable as well. I think they look like they could be sisters in this picture. We sure wish they lived closer!
Here are the BOYS! They had such a good time paling around together! I think their favorite rides were Thunder Mountain railroad and Splash Mountain. The three boys went on Thunder Mountain railroad one time by themselves. Scotty was so proud that he was tall enough to go on these big roller coasters. In fact one of the only rides he was not able to go on was Mount Everest. He was very mad about it too. He was giving me such a hard time that Uncle Dale told him he would take him to the line and see if he was tall enough. Well, he wasn't but the worker said he would let him go. He came back to me beaming because they said he was big enough to ride it. He did not end up riding on the ride but that didn't matter all he cared about was being big enough to ride it. Wow, I didn't know mens egos started at such a young age
These are some rare photos of Maddy in the stroller. For some reason she did not want to ride in the stroller. She walked a little bit but spent most the time time in her daddys arms or on his shoulders. She could be bribed a few times with a sucker, but then she caught on pretty quickly and that did not always work. The video will show you her true feelings about staying in the stroller. I decided on the third day that I was going to put down my foot and make her stay in it whether she liked it or not, then eventually she would accept it. Well needless to say she never accepted it and got her way. Look out we are in trouble with this one!

Taylor loved pushing Maddy around. He was so kind and sweet to her. But she was kind of afraid of him for the first few days.
This is us in front of Wild Animal Kingdom. If you notice Scotty running away in the background. He had no time for a picture. He had to go and find Uncle Dale. Scotty was Uncle Dales little buddy the entire trip!
Aren't these kids adorable. They all got along so well too. They had a great time!
The Prime evil whirl was one of the kids favorite rides. I think the girls went on it four or five times. Truthfully it made me sick, so I only went one time.
New Smyrna Beach!
We spent a day at the beach. Despite the wind it was a beautiful day. The kids didn't mind that the water was a little cold. They swam and tried to build sand castles, but the tide kept coming in and washing it away. Haley was learning to boogie board and did so well until a wave knocked her over and she got scraped on the sand. Well... that was the end of that. I think Madeline played in the water the most. She did not like the deep, but she loved the shallow where she could run around and splash in the waves.
Aren't they all adorable?
Surf'in in the USA~!
Maddy loves playing with her big brother!

The Wild Life

We went for a walk on Sunday and were able to see some neat things. They live right next to a Lake so it was beautiful. We looked for aligators and found one lounging in the mud (see below). We also saw this huge tree that felt like a sponge. The kids thought it was so cool. They could bunch the trunk and it would not hurt their hand because it was so squishy. Kind of strange. I think Scotty's favorite part of the trip was enjoying the wild life. He would go toad hunting at night with Uncle Dale. He even caught a tree frog and brought it inside to show me. Well it got out of the cup and Scott had to chase it down and take it back outside. We saw alligators, all kinds or cool birds and even a bald eagle. There was so much to do right in their front yard, we didn't need to spend all the money to go to Disney World.

ORLANDO FLORIDA TEMPLE
Scott and I were able to attend the temple while we were there. It was so beautiful! We wish the Las Vegas Temple could have such lush green landscaping, but we live in the desert! Thanks for watching our kids Tammy! One of the highlights of this trip for me was taking a day and going shopping with Tammy. It was so nice to be by ourselves and indulging ourselves! Girls need that once in a while!

Special Announcement!

Well, since the secret is out (Thanks Marianne! lol) We thought we would officially announce that the Hendricks family will soon be a family of 6! AAHH Yes we are expecting our 4th child on September 19th! We are very excited and so far all is going well. I had a fair share of queasiness the first three months, but nothing I can complain about. I feel great now, just getting a bigger stomach a lot faster than with my other ones. I think I am already starting to show and I am not very happy about that, but as long as the baby is healthy I will not complain.

Here are pictures of our first ultrasound at 8 weeks! I forget how amazing it is to hear a heartbeat coming from a little baby the size of a gummy bear!

Here is a picture at 13 weeks! It is so fun to see the changes. You can totally make out the profile and the little hand with fingers up by the face. Hopefully I will find out what we are having at my next appointment later next month. Any guesses? Scott and I kind of think it will be a girl. Poor Scotty, he will be surrounded by bossy girls his whole life!

EASTER

On Saturday our ward had an Easter Egg hunt and lunch. The kids had a good time. We were a little late (imagine that) so we barely made it in time for the hunt, therefore I did not get pictures of them gathering eggs, but here are a few of them inspecting their finds.
The primary presidency encouraged the kids to invite their non member friends to this activity. So Haley was determined to follow their instructions and she invited one of her best friends from school, Skyler. They had a great time.
Maddy was delighted to find candy inside the eggs! She actually was not fast enough to pick up any eggs, but her sister and brother were kind enough to share their eggs with her. She didn't seem to mind. I don't think she even new what was going on.
Saturday evening coloring Easter eggs for the Easter Bunny to hide! (just a side note: Haley questioned the validity of the Easter Bunny this year. She asked we while driving home from the store, "mom, is there really an Easter Bunny?" "It would be so easy for you and Dad to put that stuff out, I mean is there really a giant bunny, I don't think so." Don't worry I assured her that as hard as it may seem to believe there really is a giant bunny that roams around hiding eggs and giving away candy. She is too much of a thinker!)

Scotty's Star Wars eggs!
Haley's glittery, happy faced eggs!

EASTER MORNING! Scott went out Easter morning and said, "It looks like Christmas out there! I think the Easter Bunny may have gone a little overboard this year, but he knew exactly what the kids needed for their upcoming trip to Florida! Haley woke us up that morning at 6:30. You would have thought it was Christmas morning. It was all Scott and I could do to peel our eyes open. We were up until around 2 that morning. Scott was working on our master bathroom. That is another post for a later date. But he has a deadline to complete the tile work before our trip, so he has been working hard. After the kids found all their eggs and ate breakfast Scott and I were able to catch a little shut eye. I think this is the first Sunday I was grateful for 1 o'clock church.
We tried for a family photo shoot after church. This is what we got... a lot of pictures of our willing girls. Scotty as usual had run off to play with someone. It is OK since he didn't even get to wear his Easter outfit to church. Yes he snuck outside to play while we were busy getting the girls ready and when we found him he was a mess. We were not able to salvage his outfit. In fact he had to get in the shower and we had to iron all new clothes about 10 minutes before church started. What can I say he is ALL BOY!

Spring Break

This past week Haley was off of school for Spring Break. It was so fun to have her home all day with us. The weather was beautiful, in the mid to high 70's all week so we took the opportunity to do a lot of fun things. We went to the park a couple of times, went to the library, went to the nursery to buy plants and flowers, went to the Lied Children's Museum and played outside enjoying the neighbors!
They have great hands on activities for the kids at our children's museum. We got an annual pass this year. The kids love to go and see what is new
One of their favorite spots in the museum is the stage where you can dress up and perform. Here is Batman Scotty.
Here are my beautiful girls. They love to dress alike! Don't they look so much alike in this picture?
One of the new exhibits included a spin art center. They were very proud of their pictures. Maddy even made one and chose the colors all by herself. She is getting so big!

Just a side note. Maddy is wearing Haley's size 6 swim suit from last year. No it is definitely not drowning her. She wants to wear a swimsuit every day now. If she finds one she brings it too me and demands that I help her put it on. In fact she wore her new one today that she got for Easter. Because the weather was so nice, they begged to get in the water. You would have thought it was in the 90's. I wouldn't get the pool out, but I did let them run through the sprinklers and jump on the tramp with the sprinkler. They had a great time! I think they are excited for summer.

Leprechauns and the Tooth Fairy

Haley lost her second tooth on Sunday. She actually was really BRAVE and let her father pull it out for her. Since her first losing tooth experience she has learned a lot. The tooth fairy wrote her a letter about how her tooth was nice and clean and white, but she was not quite Brave enough for the tooth to make it on her top shelf. The tooth fairy told her how brave her father was for going to his father and asking for him to pull his teeth out before they were even loose and that her father has several teeth on this special top shelf. The tooth fairy hoped that Haley would be that brave next time so her tooth would make it next to her fathers. I was amazed at the impact this letter had on her. As soon as that tooth was a little loose she was determined to get it out. She asked her dad to help her. And she sat quiet as can be while he pushed and pulled it to the point where he could yank it out. When he pulled it out Haley's eyes watered but she did not cry. She was so brave. I am sure her tooth made the top shelf this time. She has written the tooth fairy back and is anxiously awaiting another letter to see the outcome of her tooth. She put her tooth under her pillow on Sunday night and was delighted to find four dollars under her pillow. This was double what her last tooth paid. She was certain it was because she was so brave! It was fun for her to have the Leprechauns and Tooth fairy all in one night!

The house of sickness

Well, everyone in out house has been sick this past few weeks. It all started with some virus that caused a really bad sore throat, major congestion, which led to coughing. And it seemed to linger and linger. I think we are all fully recovered except for my sweet Madeline. I took her to the doctor because she got a fever with it and it turns out she not only had the virus, but strep throat and an ear infection. When that seemed to clear up I took her in for her well check which was scheduled for about 10 days later and she was wheezing pretty good. Needless to say she did not get her shots and was diagnosed with allergy induced asthma. So she is on regular breathing treatments and a drug called singulair to control this. Her breathing has improved but her congestion is still there and she still has a bad cough. The good thing is that she doesn't seem to mind the breathing treatments as long as she gets to watch one of her horsey movies. This night it was the black horse (aka: Black Beauty), her other favorite is horsey Spirit.
Scotty is a whole nother story. He seemed to miss the sickness. Or so we thought. Last week he woke up and said he did not feel good. He said his throat hurt. So, I put in on the couch with a movie and gave him some Motrin while I called to make yet another doctors appointment. Within an hour he was running around being his usual self. He was out riding his bike and full of energy. My mom was in town and looked at me and said I don't think he needs to go to the doctor. Well, this was Friday and I didn't want to worry about him all weekend so I kept the appointment and took him anyway. When the doctor checked him out I told him he had some congestion and a little cough, so he asks Scotty to cough for him. He proceeds to tell me it sounded bad and that he has bronchitis, then he looks in his mouth and says he has strep throat, next he checks his ears and says he has an ear infection. His next words were "He is a mess!" Thank goodness I took the better be safe than sorry attitude. But he never complained but that brief moment when he woke up.
DOES HE LOOK SICK TO YOU!

To top it off, in this same week I went to the dentist for a crown and ended up getting a root canal on a different tooth and another crown. I think I have taken the yuck mouth title away from my husband. But it is not fair because I am anal about taking care of my teeth! I do not understand.

Florida Vacation!
