Recap of February

Happy 4th Birthday Madeline!!!

Maddy turned 4 on February 2nd. I cannot not believe she is so big! We had a great evening. Her birthday was on a Tuesday night, which is stake meetings night so we had about an hour to have dinner and a party before Scott had to leave. Madeline was fine with that because once her presents were opened all she wanted to do was play! You gotta love how easy she is to please.

Scott brought pizza home for dinner..

I made a make shift cake out of the leftover cupcakes she took to preschool...

Maddy LOVED her princess dress she got from her Grandma...

...And Haley loved playing with the new pony house she got. It was a great day!! We love Missy Moo! She is our little princess. She loves to dress up, put on makeup, and play in Mom's jewelry box. She has a great sense of humor and loves to be teased. She is a wonderful addition to our family!

POLAR SWIM

One day Scotty had the Butler boys over to play and they decide that they want to jump in the pool. Yes, Las Vegas is much warmer than the rest of the country, but it is February still and it was an over cast and fairly cold day. So they get their swim suits on and jump in. The videos tell the rest of the story. I had to laugh because my 6 year old was taunting and pressuring a 12 year old to jump in the pool! Scotty is one fearless kid and I love his spunk and excitement for life!

Valentines Day!

We had a great Valentines day! The kids had fun making their valentines and their boxes to take to school. Scotty and Haley both had school parties that I was able to attend. For some reason this month I did not have my camera on me and so I have very few pictures. This is Haley and Scotty separating and trading their Valentines candy.
Scott and I decided to have a Valentines party at our house with some friends. This is the only picture I have of the party. Me, Laura, and Kristen. We took this after most people had left. They are two of my favorite people. We had about 12 couples, we ate dinner, played the newlywed game and laughed our heads off. It was so much fun. We will definitely be having another party soon. Scott's sister Angela came for the weekend and we could not have pulled it off with out her help. She helped us get everything ready and then took the kids to dinner and a movie that night. We love you Angela!

Since we were having a party, Haley talked me into letting her have a party for her friends as well. Scotty felt left out so I invited a friend over for him during Haley's party. They had a great time, however it made for a busy week!

A Night Out
Scott and I got to escape one Friday to go to dinner and the movies. We saw Avatar and LOVED it! Anyway, we came home to this. Our cute babysitter McKayla helped the kids cut out and decorate all these hearts and puppets so they could heart attack our door! They had so much fun! Gotta love a good babysitter!

Bathroom

I finished painting the wainscot we put up in our bathroom. Scott put up hooks for each of the kids and I bought them each their own towel in different colors. This was so they would not get upset if somebody else used the towel before them. Haley is really the only one who cares, but she will not use a towel if she thinks her brother as much as breathed on it. My mom was kind enough to embroider their names on their towels as well. I love the colors and think it looks cute. Notice the hooks. I got cute girly ones for the girls and put up a plain manly one for Scotty. One more thing knocked off our list!

Fireplace
Scott made some more progress on the fireplace. He covered the small tiles that I did not like with leftover wainscot from the bathroom. Next we need to paint!

Recap of January

We have been very busy and I cannot ever seem to find a minute to sit down and document all that has gone on. So I am going to try and catch up a little. Here is what happened at the Hendricks home that past two months....

Scott's dad came to help us get our house ready the day after Christmas. Together they laid our beautiful wood floors and beefed up our fireplace mantel. They worked so hard and they got SOOOO messy. They were covered in glue! Here is my Scott's hands they did not get all the way clean for weeks. Here is my father in laws elbow where he tried to pull off some glue. The glue came off, but so did his skin. We appreciated all the work Scott's dad did. Here
is the mantel, they built up the top section.
Here is an updated picture of the mantel.
Scott added the wainscot to cover the small tiles. We will soon have pictures of the finished product. Scott has the first coat of paint on it. He is painting it to look like dark wood. It is going to be beautiful! I cannot wait until it is finished.

Entertaining kids... who would have thought that we have so many horses and ranches just minutes from our house. The kids were bored one day while we were getting the house ready so I took them exploring around our new house. We found so many fun things to see. They beg me still almost every weekend to take them to look at and feed the horses. Too bad Grandma and Grandpa don't live closer so they can actually ride the horses!

We moved in
...the first week of January. We are so grateful to the many friends and ward members that helped us pack, clean, move and unpack. We have so many wonderful friends here in Las Vegas. It truly is a wonderful place to live!

These girls helped me clean almost all day! They were truly a DREAM TEAM! Laura, me, Kacey, and Jackie. Laura always just showed up on my doorstep asking what she could do for me and it was always right when I needed someone. This is what happened this day too. Kacey and Lincoln were over the minute we called for help. They are great friends. Jackie had come over several times prior to help me pack my house. I miss working with her in Young Women's. She is so AMAZING!!! I cannot forget Kristen, she helped me clean until the wee hours of the night the night before. I love you Kristen! I also had many other friends, Melanie, Lindsay, Melanie G. and others that helped me pack or watched my kids. It is so nice to have people to rely on when all your family lives so far away!

Punkin's new hiding spot! Marianne thinks she is so funny climbing into the fridge. At our old house she loved to climb up on the dishwasher. This made Scott crazy, because her weight would pull the dishwasher out away from the wall and he would have to fix it. So she got in trouble if her daddy ever caught he up there. Well it looks like she found a new favorite spot, the refrigerator! What a cute girl!

Watched the Judd's for a few days! Our good friends the Judd's, found out they were moving to Utah for a job transfer a few days after we moved into our house. We are so going to miss them. They are our rook friends. We both have long history of playing rook (a card game) in our families genealogy. We have a great time when we get together. Eliza, Haley, Emma (standing) Their daughter Emma is Haley's best friend. Haley is very sad that she is moving, she has shed many tears already. Well they left for Utah to look for a house and we got to watch their girls for a few days. The kids had fun. Yes, they have four girls. It seems that all our friends have all girls, poor Scotty. His dad was gone to Utah for work so he was stuck in a house with 7 girls. When he is older he will only wish he could be in that situation again, especially since all their girls are so dang cute. Here is Scotty and Elle. They are the same age and have a great time together. In a previous post, I told about how Scotty learned what having a crush meant. Well this is his crush. I can only hope he would marry someone like her someday!

I took the kids to Smoothie King one of the nights and sent them in to get a drink while Marianne and I stayed in the car. There was a lady in the car next to me and she mouthed, "are those all yours?" I said, "Yep!" I will claim the 7 cute blond kids taking over the store. They told the clerk they were the Henjuddricks! We had a great time with them.

My parents came to help... clean our old house. They worked and worked and worked. And by the time they left, our house was sparkling clean. I love when they come down and I am so sad when they leave. I so wish we lived closer!!! I have decided that Scott and I have the BEST parents in the world! They are always so willing to do anything for us!

WE LOVE YOU!
FLOWERS! Scott's mom sent us flowers as a housewarming gift. There is nothing like flowers to brighten your day! Aren't they beautiful!? See more proof that we have the best parents ever! Thanks Marian!

Beautiful Eyes!

Tonight at dinner Scott told Madeline how beautiful her eyes were. She does have the most gorgeous BIG brown eyes. It is sometimes hard to get mad at her because of those eyes. Anyway, that is not the point of this post. She proceeds to tell him that he is wrong her eyes are not beautiful. I am getting concerned thinking my 3 year old is already having self esteem issues, and wondering how I am going to handle this. As I listen to her further, she says, "my eyes are not beautiful, they are brown, I don't like brown it's not pretty." I then realize it is not her eyes she dislikes, but the color, so I ask, "what color do you wish your eyes were?" Madeline says..."PURPLE!"

I am quickly reassured that she is OK with herself, she is 3 and what little 3 year old princess would not die to have purple eyes like her barbies?

Never buy a house in December!

December was a very eventful month. We have been seriously looking for a new house to purchase since June. It just so happens that we find one in October not realizing that it would not close until the middle of December, the 16th to be exact. Yes we are CRAZY (literally at this point) and we have been trying to close on a Bank owned home, pack, find renters for our old home, paint, put wood flooring in, new carpet, and try to enjoy the holidays with our kids. We made it through and are now just waiting for carpet, which comes tomorrow and we will move in on Thursday! YEAH! Thank you to all of our wonderful friends who have helped us take off wall paper (my cute young women and wonderful leaders), paint, fix things, pack, and watch my kids! We could not be this far along without you. I truly realized how many people love and care about my family. It was very humbling to me and made me grateful to live here in Las Vegas among so many wonderful people! I have had many breakdowns throughout this process and every time there was someone there to lift me up, give me words of encouragement or come to help get done what was weighing on my mind. I am truly blessed! This past week Scott's Dad was here to help him put in our beautiful wood floor. They worked until midnight most nights and did a fantastic job. Thank you Scott, you were truly a life savor. I am afraid we worked him to death! Well, I know our family has been dying for some pictures of our new house so here they are....

This is the front of the house. It was a wet and rainy evening when I took these so they are not the greatest pictures. But the house has a huge front yard and sit back from the street. There is a cute courtyard in the front as well.

The backyard has a good size pool and hot tub. We cannot wait for summer! The one side with all the trees and grass my kids call the jungle and the other side has coy ponds and a stream with walkways. I am going to put a garden in and Scott eventually wants to put a pad for a basketball hoop. The kids (especially Scotty) have already spent hours out their finding dead lizards, fish skeletons, sticks and climbing the trees. The yard was definitely the selling point for this home.

Here is the kitchen with the ugly wallpaper that had to come off. I will post after pictures on another post so you can see how different it looks.

This is the family room off the kitchen. This room will have major changes. I wish I had the after pictures taken already. You will just have to wait.

The front entry way. Unfortunately the beautiful chandelier (lol) has to stay until we find something we love and have the money to buy it. So let us know if you find something fabulous to replace it! It is a shame it is so ugly because it really puts off some great light! Notice the wallpaper.

The Dining room. This is what you see right as you walk in. I love the columns and arches. But the light, seriously who would put such a puny light in such a grand room? More wallpaper!

The front room. I love love love this big window. It reminds me of the big window I had in the front room of the house I grew up in. It has a beautiful view of our backyard. But those curtains oooh how hideous!! More wall paper.

I forgot to take pictures of the rest of the house. There are four bedrooms, one of the kids rooms is as big as the master which is good size, three bathrooms and a decent laundry room with lots of cabinets and a sink! We feel very blessed to be able to buy such a beautiful home right now in this uncertain time.

My kids have been such good sports through this whole process. They have been out of school almost the whole time and did not complain that we did not go do anything exciting while they were on break. I love my adorable rug rats!

Florida Vacation!
